This is a serving teapot used after the tea is brewed to serve. A phrase from a famous Chinese poem called "Tune of Linjiangxing" is painted on the side. The poem is from the Ming Dynasty. The translation is "How many things before and after all melt into gossip and laughter." Usually a strainer is placed on top when tea is poured in.
